AP-PA-NOO-SE A Saukie Chief. From the 1836-44 folio edition of McKenney & Hall's Indian Tribes of North America. Full folio sheet measures about 14" x 20". Published by F.W. Greenough in 1838. Hand colored stone lithograph finished by J.T. Bowen. The original binding edge, where this plate was bound into a book volume, is intact along the right margin. There are 2 small unobtrusive spots, one upper right of image and the other below the image, which appear to be part of the hand made wove paper. EXCELLENT condition. There is a tiny chip at the center left edge of the paper. There is the slightest evidence of toning around the margins. Oppenheimer sells this print for $2800.00.
